Thank you for your response. I had 2 conversations with Shane in December 2007 after the engine failed, in which he said he would talk to you. I also offer Shane that I would contact you directly, but Shane told me not to worry about it, he would handle it and get back to me. Since that initial conversation I have had no response. I have sent Emails, and made phone calls, but with no return effort. When I saw that you used the FM forum, it looked like a great oppertunity to make contact with you .

I would first like to clarify that I am not expressing that yourself or Shane knowingly sold me a blown up engine. It was explained to me by Shane that the engine was run at the run offs, and was nationally competitive. This was the terms that I agreed to pay for the FM Package you were selling.

In December myself and World Speed Motorsports installed the engine into a Formula Mazda at Firebird Raceway. When the car entered the track the driver complaind that it was severly down on power and making a detionation like noise. He came into the pits, we checked the timing, finding it to be set correctly at 20 degrees. Since the timing was correct, we decided to turn the timing down to see if that would help the detonation like noise. unfortunately that did not help, and the car was still severly down on power.

After those 4 laps World Speed Motorsports, and myself decided to remove the engine and send it to Daryl Drummond. Daryl reported that the engine had 2 collapsed apex seals, and the engine needed to be rebuilt.

After the rebuild I explained to Shane what was found. I also explained that I was sure he did not knowingly sell me an engine that was broke, and that I wanted to split the cost of the rebuild. The rebuild was roughly $4000. I also offered to send him a copy of the invoice from Daryl Drummond. He said dont worry about it I will talk to Jim and get it figured out.

Again this is the first response I have received concerning the engine. I basically just needed some sort of response. I am stuck in the middle just as Shane is. I purchased this car for a customer. I forwarded all the info that Shane provided me with to my customer prior to purchasing the car, and we agreed that it was a fair price due to the terms. Since the engine was not "nationally competitive" I feel and my customer feels as though the terms of the sale explaind by Shane were not accurate.

If you feel as though you are not responsible for half of the cost of the rebuild, then you are not obligated to pay. I will eat the cost of the rebuild for you and for my customer. That is the cost of doing business. I have just been looking for a response for the past 5 months.

I also apologize if you interpreted my Post on the FM forum as suggesting that you or Shane knowingly sold me a faulty engine. I have bought 2 or 3 cars now from Shane without a hitch. All have been great cars, and great transactions. I would also buy from Shane in the future should the opportunity present it self.

Sorry for any confusion this post has caused...just looking for a response.
