So, I'm seeing a niggling little messy crack in the differential case: it starts at
the 1 o-clock stud on the left side cover and goes back 2 inches toward the middle of the case. I understand this is typical of the standard cases which are
not up to the twisting torque, and the rhino cases are beefier to withstand the torque. The car has 95 hours on it, so I guess there's no alternative but
to re-case with the rhino case, since any welding on it is complicated, laborious and simply a short-term band-aid anyway or so I'm told.
My question for today is: What typically happens with the crack? It just gets bigger and longer and messier, or might it fail
catastrophically and tear up the entire gear train? IOW, should I go racing this weekend and watch it after each session or bag the race and immediately
re-case?
OK, I have a 2nd question; I can't find any old threads on this. Are there any?
